Peterhead Scottish Week celebrations started on Saturday 21st July with the crowning of the queen and princesses with events running throughout the week culminating with the grand finale the following weekend with the Red Arrows and fireworks display.

Relay for Life
Peterhead’s annual Cancer Research “Relay for Life” was yet again a great success in raising over £140K for the cause. As ever, there was fantastic support from local people and businesses who all had a great time despite the occasional rain shower.

The Saturdays (Blue Toon Rox)
On Saturday night popular girl band The Saturdays performed at Balmoor Stadium as part of the Blue Toon Rox festival. A large turn out of excited fans added to the atmosphere.


Mintlaw Gala
The 2012 Mintlaw Gala was yet again another success with crowds turning out in force over the entire weekend to enjoy the show. Taking centre stage on Sunday afternoon was the crowd pleasing “It’s a Knockout”.

Puffins
Atlantic puffins have once again returned to the Bullers of Buchan to nest for the summer as part of their annual breeding cycle. You have to look closely for them as they are hiding high up in the cliffs!

Peterhead Olympic Festival

Daniel Gallager Bay Swim
Peterhead Rugby Club organised a funday at Peterhead Lido in aid of local man Daniel Gallager who is recovering from life changing injuries in hospital. Amongst many of the day’s activities was the much anticipated bay swim.

Bond Helicopter Ditching
Bond Superpuma AS 225 made an emergency ditching 25 miles east of Aberdeen yesterday (09/05/2012) with all on board safely rescued and taken to ARI. The wreckage was recovered by passing vessel the Seven Pelican to Peterhead harbour where NTSC engineers took custody to investigate the root cause of the incident.
